How Much Protein Should Women Consume For Weight Loss?

Congratulations for knowing that one of the major keys to weight loss is protein! So many women believe that protein is man food and only for muscle builders. This could be further from the truth. Before I get to how much protein you should be eating daily, let me tell you about the benefits of a protein rich diet.


Satisfies cravings.


It's true, the more carbs and sugar you eat the more of it you will want to eat. With protein your body will feel satisfied and will create a wall preventing you from your most severe junk food cravings. A diet rich in protein and fiber is the key to weight loss. As you increase your protein intake you should lower you carb/sugar intake. Moderation is key here, but it is important to switch to whole grains.


Fuller, Longer.


There are mornings when I will grab a bagel, donut, fruit or even yogurt and find that I am starving an hour later. This is always frustrating when I'm trying to lose weight because I feel like I can never get full. This was until one morning I decided to have a couple of eggs for breakfast with a little turkey sausage and realized I went through most of the afternoon not even thinking about food. How could this be? I eventually connected the dots that when I have a protein rich breakfast I feel better and the meal will carry me until the afternoon usually on the same amount of calories or less.


How much protein should you consume?


I don't like to get into specific numbers because everyone is different. However, to lose weight you should focus your meals on protein, vegetables, and whole grain fiber. Carbohydrates should be the smallest part of your meal. Complex carbs such as whole grains, vegetables, and yams should be eaten everyday with most meals. Protein can be found in meat (preferably lean), tofu, eggs, beans, nuts and some dairy products.

Exercise and Weight Loss - How Do You Get Started When You're So Out Of Shape?

I'm glad you've decided to take a step in the direction of exercise and weight loss. Many people decide they want to make a change in their lives via exercise, but rarely take the next step in fulfilling their goals. Now that you know you want to start exercising to lose weight, do you know what exercises to focus on for the best results?


I'll be the first to admit, when I first started I was VERY out of shape. I was getting winded stepping up a flight of stairs. At the beginning, it was pretty frustrating to say the least. I was able to jog for hardly a lap or two before I was so out of breath I could hardly stand up straight. I kept thinking to myself, "How am I going to lose weight if I can't even exercise for more than 5 minutes at a time?" What I didn't understand due to my impatience was that I needed to concentrate on building up my stamina. You'd be surprised as to how quickly your body adapts and your endurance rises over the first few weeks.


My recommendation is to do what you can do in the beginning. If you can only run on a treadmill for 5 minutes, run on a treadmill for 5 minutes. The point is that you are actually moving and burning calories. A great exercise in the beginning is to start a walk/jogging program. When I started I was obviously only able to walk for long distances. As time went on, I decided to add in little spurts of jogging. If you keep adding in more and more jogging, soon you'll be jogging the entire way instead of walking. It's all about building up your stamina day by day. It's important that you give your body time to change, because it WILL happen.


Within a few weeks you will begin to see changes that will astound you. Then you'll be ready to implement more strategic exercises to explode your weight loss. Good Luck!

How to Exercise For Weight Loss - Part Three-Advanced

As an advanced trainee, you may not have too much fat to lose. You are training 6 times per week, maybe using a combination of weight training and cardio. The following recommendations are for your cardio training only. You should also include strength training in your routine to maximise fat loss and to maintain or increase the amount of muscle that you are carrying. This will not only give you a great shape but more muscle means more calories being used 24 hours a day.


Do these high intensity cardio workouts up to 5-6 times per week-a minimum of 3 times at least. You can do them on alternate days to your strength sessions which is the best option, or if you do them on the same days, try to do them separately so that you can put a full effort not only into your strength sessions, but into these workouts as well. The key to maximum fat loss is the intensity, so if you are already fatigued from another workout, you will not get maximum benefit.


Start with 2 workouts the first week and add one each second week till you are going through the whole thing 5-6 times per week.


We are going to cycle through the following exercises. Do each one for 1 minute each without stopping.
